Lead Vehicle Artist

Speedway Games is an independent studio developing and publishing games only on Roblox. We have over 2.3 billion visits to our games and more than 26+ million monthly active users. Our top game is Vehicle Legends, a top mobile focused driving game on the platform for the last 4.5+ years, which features officially licensed vehicles. We currently own 6+ games and see peaks of over 60,000 concurrent players.

We are seeking a Lead Vehicle Artist to join our team working on Vehicle Legends. Our goal is to create the most realistic/accurate & performant cars on Roblox for car enthusiasts. We are in the process of switching the game to licensed cars and have signed licenses with various top car brands which have not launched yet and are currently under production.

For which tasks (responsibilities)?

• Oversee the entire process of vehicle creation for a mobile game from reference collection to engine implementation, ensuring we create the best vehicles possible on the budget provided

• Collect & prepare references for vehicles: Prepare CAD data, find photos, communicate with the licensing lead to get information from the car brand, etc.

• Review submissions from artists, provide feedback

• Prepare materials, textures, and animations when required

• Integrate vehicles into the game engine, ensuring an accurate result completed on time

• Make minor corrections to vehicle models when necessary

• Gather photos of fully integrated cars for approval from the car brand when required

• Motivate and mentor your team

• Manage sub-leads/teams

• Hiring: Review portfolios/CVs, conduct interviews, assess candidates, select, onboard, etc.

• Other related responsibilities as required

What kind of professional are we looking for?

• 3+ years experience as a 3d Art Lead, preferably as Lead Vehicle Artist

• 4+ years of experience 3d modeling vehicles

• Prior experience working on licensed vehicles, either in the capacity of a 3d Artist or 3d Lead, with a strong understanding of best practices

• Excellent knowledge of a 3d package such as 3DS Max or Blender

• Good knowledge of cars

• Excellent knowledge of Substance Painter/Designer

• Ability to create rigs and animations for cars (convertible roofs, trunk pistons, etc.)

• C1 English or better (spoken and written)

• Portfolio demonstrating your ability to 3d model vehicles

• Can organize, clarify, and communicate complex ideas quickly and accurately.

• Agile, goal-oriented, stress stable, driven to succeed, and always up for a challenge.

Good to have:

• Experience as a 3d Vehicle Artist/3d Art Lead on a mobile driving game

• Car enthusiast, passionate about racing games and accurately recreating vehicles

• Technical education where you learned about programming

• A good amount of relevant industry connections

• Experience with 3DS Max, Maya, and Blender
